My Mountain Dew Sonnet

As part of our final for World Literature, we had to write a sonnet before hand and turn it in. A sonnet is a 14 line people with 10 syllables per line. Every second syllable it the stressed beat. It follows the ABAB CDCD EFEF GG formatting for the rhyme scheme. Mine is nothing special and I was just going for something silly and fun. So here it is, in all it's glory. It's not quite perfect, but he said it didn't have to be.

I Think I Might Have a Problem
By Matthew Risting

There is a pop that’s better than the rest,
The nectar of the gods is Mountain Dew.
No other pop can ever pass the test,
They will have to compete for number two.

Some say that I’m addicted to the pop,
Because I have one every single day.
I almost proved to them that I could stop,
Ten hours later then I said no way.

I was okay until the afternoon,
I’m not sure what transpired after that.
I started acting kind of like a loon,
I know I said: “Biv kleev a rountan yat.”

Don’t ask me what that means ‘cause I don’t know.
I just ran out of Dew, I better go.
